HOME HEALTH AGENCIES

Home Health agencies provide skilled professionals to care for individuals living in their own home or residential care/assisted living facilities. They are also referred to as Home Care agencies. These terms are used interchangeably. Typical services include, but not limited to, nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, wound care, IV therapy, diabetic education, fall prevention education and behavioral health. These services are ordered by your physician and often follow you after an inpatient rehab or hospital stay. Skilled services are covered by Medicare. See below for Tips.

Special Tips!

  • You MUST have a primary care physician. Schedule appointments at minimum every 6 months.
The start of services may be delayed if you haven’t had a recent appointment.

  • You have a choice of which home health agency to use.

  • Medicare covers the cost of home health care and there is no out-of-pocket cost meaning, no co-pay.
Private insurance may also cover the cost of home health services as well.
